1964 we were the proud new owners of the model home at 2300 Glenmoor Road, Clearwater, FL built by Ed Haun
In 1967 Ed enclosed the back porch with guidance from the peanut gallery
There are many more photos of Ed and Ethyleen as our friendship developed but not yet uncovered in stored boxes. We enjoyed meeting Ed's dad who planted the bright violas in our front yard, dinners together, New Years' Day parties, getting to know Ethyleen's amazing mother who could still name all the states, their capitols, every book of the Bible, etc. at age 100, petting the cute busy dog, admiring the array of photos and woodwork around their house, especially Ethyleen's needlepoint and perfectly knitted sweaters. We shopped and enjoyed friends together, came home to fix Ed's lunch. We missed Karla after her move to Idaho. We all grieved at the huge loss of a son gone far too soon and the passing of her beloved husband. Her art work is beyond exceptional. We purchased two beautiful oils of a bear and a fox painted by her teacher so she is connected to us also in this way. We learned about all the talented and smart grand kids, sharing a tiny bit of pride just knowing about them! So much, so much we shared during these active times.
Bill and I moved to Littleton, New Hampshire in 1978 but came back to visit friends in Clearwater occasionally. Bob Ress allowed us to use his membership at the Carlouel Yacht Club on occasion so we could meet up with a few of our best friends.
This was Easter, 1987 - Ethyleen, Geoffrey Coit and J'Anne Moon
In 1998 Ethyleen joined Geoffrey Coit, Bill and me on an exciting trip on a Windstar Cruise to the Aegean. Of course, she was always the prettiest and best-dressed of everyone on board.
Even when it was HOT
We had a lot of laughs and good times together
We enjoyed the wine
and dressed properly at all times
even on the bus
I still have the tee shirt and the camera . . .
and Ethyleen's still looking good even after a full day's tour
There we were the next day ready for the view of Istanbul and further adventures
She joined us and friend Elaine Dermody for a sail in FL, bravely taking the wheel, wearing her favorite shirt.
In 1999 Ethyleen came to visit us in New Hampshire. This is one of my favorite pictures of her helping in the kitchen
In 2000 Ethyleen joined us for some cruising on "Zafu" in Tortola and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands
In 2010 I came for another visit to Clearwater
One of the biggest treats was to go with Geoff and Ethyleen to their art lesson with Penny at the Belleview Biltmore
This is some of how I know and love Ethyleen - so full of talent and beauty. A loyal and true friend who can discuss intelligently all kinds of subjects and bring understanding to so many questions. She has experienced the best and the worst but never lost her grounding - grounding in her faith and friendship. There is no better. We have been bound together for many years and that will always be so, no matter what . . . Ethyleen, you are kept in my loving prayers. You continue to be a blessing in my life.
